A Diverse World
As much as I love stories the stories that I do, I recognize that a lot of them started in the 1940s. Some even came before that point. So, the characters in these living worlds that I love very often skew to white males on average. It doesn’t help that a lot of the diverse characters of today seem to make being diverse their whole identity. I’ve lost track of how many times a black character in pop culture has had more focus on the fact that they are black, more than that they are a character (which as a black person myself irritates me to no end).
So, in this universe, I aspire to create a diverse world of different genders, races, and LGBTQ+ groups who are, at their core, people first. I want to make these identities only part of the whole person. I’m sure I, like many, will make mistakes, but I want to do my best to help fill a place that’s pretty lacking in the media landscape these days. I hope you’re willing to be a part of that!
The Start of Something New
It all begins with an idea.
There was a beginning. A kid in their bed, eyes lighting up every time an episode of Justice League and Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. It exploded when that same kid discovered the MCU. The beauty of a living, breathing world in which a million different stories could be told astounded them. It something special. A world where there wasn’t just one main character, or one main story, there were a million different events, stories and people living their lives pushing up against each other.
To this day, it’s something I’ve only really seen in comic book inspired stories. And it’s something I’ve been itching to see more of.
The Era-Verse is the culmination of what I love. It’s a world full of science fiction and fantasy. Empires of the stars and kingdoms on the ground. A world where Superheroes exist in the same place as great warriors. As time goes on this world will only grow and change more as different characters and plotlines push against each other. This is a living world.
So far, there are two ongoing series with more to come. These books tell the story of two separate worlds: Syranos and Earth. Two worlds that seem as far away as possible from each other, but are more connected than you would think.
